Want to have lunch with Elvis and help save lives? You re in luck, because Saturday, August 21st, Elvis will be in the building at the Port St. Lucie Civic Center as Pink Tie Friends celebrates its annual Friendship Luncheon.
A grassroots organization created in 2004 to help un and underinsured individuals battling breast cancer, Pink Tie Friends assists women and men in St. Lucie, Martin and Indian River Counties. In 2009, Pink Tie Friends assisted 30 individuals. This year, it is expected that at least 50 individuals in St. Lucie, Martin, and Indian River Counties will need assistance from Pink Tie Friends.
The annual Pink Tie Friendship Luncheon is not only a fabulous way to celebrate survival and honor loved ones touched by breast cancer, it s also an opportunity to meet the twelve dynamic individuals who will be featured on Pink Tie Friends now-legendary annual calendar. The 2011 calendar, which will be unveiled and sold for the first time at the August 21st luncheon, has grown considerably and has been completely redesigned by the award-winning team of Mitch Kloorfain and Wendy Dwyer of Gorilla Magic, so you know it s going to be unique. In addition to featuring survivors, each day of the year celebrates an individual whose life was touched by breast cancer. You might be surprised to find out whose names are among those featured on the calendar.
Lunch will begin at 11 a.m. and will feature a very pink silent auction, raffles, door prizes that will make you think pink long after the day has gone, a delicious lunch, the debut and introduction of the calendar models for 2011, and a rare appearance by the King of Rock and Roll Elvis Presley. If you ve never had a chance to see Elvis as portrayed by Darrell Dunhill, you re in for an incredible hands-on treat. Pink Tie photographer Mitch Kloorfain will share the emcee duties with Treasure and Space Coast Radio s Hamp Elliott, and there will be plenty of surprises that will make you laugh, cry, and celebrate the gift of life and the gift of giving we often take for granted. The only downside is that tickets to this event are limited and, at only $35 each, they re selling quickly. The Pink Tie Friendship Luncheon is a perfect opportunity to gather a whole group of friends and paint the town - pink, of course.
